"Hello Billy. Just a note to say thanks for solving my autopilot problems. As you know my previous attempts, with local parties better left un-named, had left me irritated and bemused!

Our suspicions that the (compound) motor was probably the source proved correct but the difference was that you rolled your sleeves up and sorted it out. (as opposed to fiddling with the wires and pronouncing it u/s and backing up this mis-diagnosis with a very inflated quote for replacing the whole system).
